Our Trustee

  • Abhisar Kalal | Managing Trustee,
    Avval Foundation

One of AVVAL’s key values is to ensure that no voice is ignored and everyone has the power to impact change, both within and outside of our organisation. My role is to ensure that we are taking this seriously by questioning our current ways of working to ensure that we are not reproducing the marginalisation we see in our current society. I am also here to work on how we can best build allyships and alliances that support each other to make the noise we need to make and create the change we want to see as a community. As a brown Indian men, I have a great interest in challenging systems of gender, racial and class oppression. My working languages are English, Gujarati and Hindi.

I wear many different hats, as is common in the NGO world! I support the whole team to make sure we work together, in new and creative ways that support our own individual and collective talents. I also am quite involved in our FOOD CARD WORK – and am extremely passionate about this work. I’m interested in seeing how we can continue to be bold in our ideas and ways of working and how we can better involve others in our work. I greatly value honesty, kindness, and passion.

There's really no such thing as the 'voiceless'.
There are only the deliberately silenced,
    or the preferably unheard.
